The West Arms

Celebrate in our small country pub in North Wales

Award winning celebration menus

Food and drink are at the heart of our warm Welsh hospitality, which is why we have been featured in The Times and The Telegraph as one of the best country pubs in north wales to eat and stay in the UK.

From delighting buffet lunches for the family to something more exquisite for an anniversary dinner or a birthday lunch.  Every plate we serve is seasonally prepared using locally sourced ingredients from the Ceiriog Valley with the help of our food and drink partners including Dolwen Welsh Lamb and Beef, Big Hand Brewery, Tanners (wine suppliers) and Harlech (food suppliers).

The bar is well stocked with refreshingly good local cask ales and home-made gins as well as an unrivalled wine list.

An exclusive use country inn in North Wales

Need more quality time with the ones you love? Our small country pub in North Wales can be hired out for exclusive use so you can extend your celebrations and make it an extra special staybration. Enjoy the full experience of having one of North Wales’ hidden gems all to yourselves.

Steeped in local history, The West began life as a Welsh farm which later became a Drovers’ Inn known as ‘The Eagles’ where cattle drivers would rest their livestock on their way down from the Welsh hills en route to Chirk, Oswestry and London.

Today, The West has been lovingly restored to enhance all its magnificent original 16th Century features. Your guests can take in the fresh country air in our Beer Garden, relax in one of the many nooks and crannies with a board game or beside one of our traditional inglenook fireplaces with a drink in hand. The Garden room is a cherished part of the inn with bi-fold doors that look out onto the Berwyn Hills bringing the Welsh Countryside inside.

Our country hotel in North Wales offers flexible rates and a delicious local menu so you can get the very best from your time in the Ceiriog Valley.

Explore the undiscovered treasures of the Ceiriog Valley
