Our recipe for the perfect Christmas break in North Wales is a roaring log fire mixed with award winning cuisine, a bit of carol singing, a walk in our winter wonderland valley and a touch of festive wine.
Join us for a memorable Christmas ‘At Home’ in our cosy, atmospheric 16th century, country inn. Here is what you can expect if you spend your Christmas with us.
Arrive at your leisure and settle in to your new home for Christmas, your room will be ready from 3:00pm and your mince pie and mulled wine awaits but we are open all day if you would like to arrive earlier and settle in. Arriving at lunchtime? Not a problem you can join us for our festive lunch menu in the restaurant.
The West Arms festivities begin with Christmas Carols around our tree on Christmas Eve, followed by a 3 course, celebration dinner created by our Head Chef Grant Williams and his team. After dinner join us in the bar to sample our selection of over 42 gins, fine wines or local beers or kick back and relax in front of one of our much loved log fires.
The big day starts with a leisurely breakfast. There is a Christmas service in the village church (at 10:30am) where all are welcome or you may prefer to relax and unwrap your presents around the tree.
Join us for a glass of bubbles before indulging in a magnificent, traditional 4 course Christmas lunch. Chef brings together a balance of much loved traditions from his ‘Mamgee’ (Granny – to the rest of us) to present a new menu inspired by our fabulous local valley produce, with a nod to the ’12 days of Christmas’. Dishes include Local Pressed Partridge with pear chutney served on a warm brioche (i.e Partridge in a Pear Tree!)
After lunch, put your feet up and make yourself at home for the evening… perhaps a board game, a little more of that jigsaw or just a chat with your new found friends. If you want to get out there are plenty of walking routes we can guide you, get those boots and hats on and venture out in the wintry wonderland of our Ceiriog valley.
If you find yourself feeling peckish later (and in need of a cheeky Turkey sandwich or just one more minced pie), we’ll have a buffet waiting for you … just like home.
Stay up as late as you want or turn down for the night with a hot or cold beverage at our cosy pub and plan the rest of your stay in good company.
Start the day with a hearty breakfast. For those staying on, enjoy a traditional Boxing Day walk on one of our recommended walking routes right on our doorstep. Return and snuggle down by the fire with a hot drink, or just make yourself at home in the comfortable surroundings of The West. You’ll find plenty of quiet areas to enjoy a read or hunker down with a glass of wine and enjoy a board game in one of our lounges.
In the evening, we will be serving an early 3 course dinner and afterwards you can round off your Christmas break in North Wales with a drink or two with the locals in our bar and plan your return to Llanarmon DC in our cosy, country inn next Christmas or maybe even sooner!
