Local speciality dishes

‘Our menus are living breathing things’. They change spontaneously as ingredients appear from suppliers, locals, even guests… from fresh country Pheasant to the latest wild fruits picked from our surrounding woodland.

Dishes reflects the seasonal flavours of the Ceiriog valley, from the signature Dolwen Welsh Lamb, a staple favourite reared by friend and farmer Mike Crawshaw to ‘The Marley Rose’, Fresh Fish caught directly off the North Wales Coast from our local fisherman on his own boat. Local Speciality meat dishes such as North Wales Venison or Partridge from Izzy at The Wild Meat Company in Llanrhaedr Yn Mochnant appear frequently.

Most of The West Arms’ food suppliers live in the village or not far from our inn and grow their produce in the valley. We are proud to work with and support a selection of hand-picked Welsh businesses including Big Hand Ale, Bron Y Garth Nurseries and Dolwen Lamb and Beef and more.

The Sunday Roast with the most

Our signature family Sunday Roast is a marvellous way to end a brisk morning walk in our glorious valley.

Enjoy a hearty local Roasted dish and Yorkshire pud followed by a relaxing afternoon sat by a roaring log fires with your favourite drink in hand.

Sunday Roasts are a popular choice at the West Arms. Every plate is served ‘family style’ so expect lots of roasties and lashings of gravy.

After a warming meal, challenge someone to a board game in our garden room or sit by the cosy bar which is well stocked with plenty of local ales and wines.

Best Pub In North Wales

As well as serving up fabulous food, co-owner, Mark Williamson takes pride in his bar, featuring locally brewed Big Hand Ales and Welsh Gins and Whiskies from Penderyn, Pollination and Hibernation Gins with tastings to enhance the experience, whilst supporting our fellow Welshmen!

After a long day exploring the Welsh countryside, the West Arms pub offers a cosy resting spot with plenty of nooks and crannies as well as roaring fireplaces where you can enjoy a selection of delicious local ales or fine wines.
