Best events and things to do in North Wales this summer

International Eisteddfod

If you are planning a summer escape to North Wales, The Ceiriog Valley offers something for everyone to look forward to. Our country inn hotel near Llangollen is perfectly placed to access some of Wales’ most popular outdoor events this summer.

International Eisteddfod

Every summer since 1947 Llangollen has staged one of the world’s most inspirational cultural festivals – The International Eisteddfod. Expect 4,000 or more performers descending upon this beautiful small Welsh town to sing and dance in a unique combination of competition, performance, and international peace and friendship. Our hotel near Llangollen is just 20 mins from the town.

Classic Transport Weekend

The Classic Transport Weekend is back on 2nd and 3rd July 2022. Travel back in time and see classic transport of the day including motorcycles, cars, trucks, tractors and buses.  Enjoy watching steam, diesel and heritage railcars throughout the weekend plus a free bus service using vintage buses.

Walk in the Wild foraging at Chirk

Become a forager this summer and explore woodlands and hedgerows for the best wild foods and learn how to use them in your own cooking.  Enjoy a half day ramble with a guide, against the backdrop of the ancient woodland of the National Trust’s Chirk Castle estate. Don’t forget to bring your own basket or bag to grab some wild edibles to take home.

Balloon Festival

Don’t miss one of Wales’ favourite summer events – the Oswestry Balloon Festival. Watch in delight as hundreds of colourful hot air balloons take to the skies. The festival also includes a fireworks display, a parachute display, and a balloon race.
