Your journey starts here

Have you planned your post-Christmas walking trip in North Wales yet?

Book a revitalising mid-winter break with us and dine at our restaurant.  After a hearty cooked Welsh breakfast and armed with one of Chef’s homemade packed lunches you can set off to explore our valley. From our doorstep you can set out on a walking adventure.

A Valley like no other

Choose from a variety of famous routes including the popular Ceiriog Valley Walk or the timeless Wayfarer’s to make your walking trip in north wales memorable.

There are also six local walks which will take you around our village, Llanarmon DC, described as one of ‘6 must visit places in Wales you’ve probably never heard of’ by Rough Guides.

The Berwyn foothills and peaks are havens for birds of prey, wild animals and rare flora which share the hilltops with our local sheep.  Wind past the remains of late medieval farms, sheepfolds and cross streams and old drove roads. Discover the oldest ‘longhouse’ farm in the area and the birthplace of famous Welsh poet John Ceiriog Hughes.

Retreat to our cosy Inn

Eagles room

After a long wintry walk around our blissfully quiet valley return to our 16th Century country Inn where you will find plenty of cosy corners, warming fireplaces and a friendly pub and restaurant where you can rest and refuel with delicious food and drink.

Explore World Heritage Sites

For those wanting more of a cultural fix, nearby attractions include National Trust’s Chirk Castle, the last Welsh castle from the reign of Edward I and 400-year-old stately home, Erddig.

Explore the surrounding area of Llangollen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes the majestic medieval abbey, Valle Crucis Abbey, legendary for its lavish feasts,  Chirk Aqueduct and Viaduct, an awe-inspiring navigable canal and Dinas Bran Castle, with its 360 degree views.
